New Music Video- Baskery

OOOHHHHKKKKKAAAAAYYY.

Let me just tell you.

Baskery is a Sweedish all girl band and they are fekking out of this world.

It's been a while since I've found a group like this that I will seriously play on repeat whilst dancing all over my house. In fact, they make me want to be in california, driving up the coast with the windows down sing-screaming making other drivers point and laugh or get reeall jealous that they're not in my car having a party. Or something like that. Loved working with these ladies. They are gorgeous, down to earth funny, fun loving and really really great musicians. They played at one of the local bars in Long Beach a few nights before we shot the video and I heard the drummer made one other particular male drummer friend a little intimidated/impressed. Check them out; you seriously wont be disappointed.

Did I ever mention that I headed the grooming team for Native Son during this past New York Fashion week? Its months ago now, but worth mentioning. Take a look at these amazing photos by the expert menswear photographer Christian Rios.

Whew! Here we go. Two weddings down and a summer to go...I have a feeling this year's wedding Season in New York is gonna keep me busy.

This is Katy and Chad on their big day.

This wedding was from last summer on one of my trips back to California (whoops, I've been bad at this blogging thing) It was featured on one of my favorite wedding blogs, Green Wedding Shoes.

This beautiful beachy wedding was shot by the awesome couple of Erin Hearts Court. I don't know about you, but I'm a huge fan of of husband-wife photog teams for weddings. ZANG TOI Fall 2011 Fashion Show

Phew! These past few weeks have been a whirlwind. With NYFW, a music video, a short film and personal clients I have been busy to the max! Photos and updates are on their way.

First, let's start with Zang Toi Fall 2011 Fashion show!

I joined the insanely talented and inspiring Rudy Miles this season as part of the BeautybyRudy team. Working with Rudy is such a treat; he's an incredible coach/educator and he's super fun to work with. Plus he has the coolest eyewear collection ever. Done and done.

Once again, Amazing Cosmetics sponsored the show and provided an awesome array of products for us to work with. We used the Bronze Sunshine Quad to create the copper, gold and brown smoky eye to accent the neutral tones Zang used in his latest collection and finished the look with Barely lipgloss to give the lips a subtle sexy shine. Hit up your local Sephora to check out these shades for yourself. Oh, and trust, that concealer they do is REALLY TRULY AMAZING. Such a great consistency, covers well, and stays in place under the eyes. Uh, thank you!

Oh! And, I ran into this pretty young thing, miss Sarah Deanna, who I just love working with. We go "way back" if you will :)

Oh hey, Tedrick, what's up baby? You are the best let's-double-team-that-one-model-over-there-since-she-came-in-two-minutes-before-last-looks-partner ever!!!

And Voila! We're ready to go.

Zang Toi had such a beautiful collection! The emerald green, camel and textured blacks were absolutely stunning. I can't even tell you how amazing it is to hear the music, the crowd and shutters going off as these lovely models take their walk down the runway. What's more, when its Zang's elegant gowns or suiting, it practically takes your breath away.

The guy in the front is photographer Jim Purdum. I've worked on projects with this team for several months now and it's insane how much I've enjoyed myself. Jim's awesome and I absolutely adore how he does what he does. The whole crew for that matter.

My First Fashion Week:::::SS 2011

I worked three shows for NY fashion week SS 2011.

2 of the shows I worked with the amazing and talented Rudy Miles on the BeautybyRudy team!

Amazing Cosmetics sponsored both the Zang Toi and Megan Walsh show.

Here I am looking especially short at the Jonathan Peters show.

This show was at the Audi Forum put on by the iFashion Network.

Note the gorgeous hair.

And lastly, or rather, to start off my week, I worked with the BeautybyRudy team for Meghan Walsh. You'll see in many of these photos a few trends.

In each of the shows I worked brows were emphasized (not a problem), skin was dewy and fresh. Blush, if used at all, was kept to a minimum .

Much love to Amazing Cosmetics for providing makeup for the Meghan Walsh and Zang Toi shows. I was especially impressed with the concealer. I like using concealer in place of foundations when creating a light, fresh face. Concealer is usually thiner and can be fanned out for a natural look without caking. Amazing Cosmetics gets extra props for the color range they offer.

Also, LOVE the Polaroid app on my droid. Such pretty photos.

All together, I couldn't have asked for a better first Fashion Week experience.

I met and worked with so many talented people and I actually worked in those big tents at Lincoln Center. (Booyah)

About a month ago these two New Yorkers came to Long Beach and I had the pleasure of getting to know the two of them over a lunch, a wine spritzer, and a bridal trial run!

Tomorrow Ashwin will marry his beautiful bride.

Everyone knows I'm a sap for this stuff...there's something magical that happens...watching a woman walk towards her husband, promising to be his for a lifetime...gawd, it hardly gets better.

I'm so impressed with these photos!

Here's a few photos from the days at the counter.
A lot of times people don't even know that I do retail work but I have worked off/on freelance/permanent for MAC since 2001
(Whew! next year is 10 years, that's scary)

On a non-event day I do on average 3-5 makeup applications
(event day it's much more!)

Sometimes it's cause the gal needs to restock her makeup bag, sometimes its ladies night out...

This first time mama wanted "jewel-toned eyes"

And other times, people get their makeup done for themed parties!

Here you see the fabulous artist Jenna getting her gal ready for an 80s party.

I love working for MAC.
We are a family. We love COLOR and "dress up" and Individuality.

When asked what my favorite thing about MAC as company is, I almost always say their philanthropic programs (ie Back-to-MAC, Viva Glam, Kids helping Kids) or the training.
We have the absolute best training in the world.

I had seen this video months ago at Update and got really pumped on the line of colors we were launching. Here's a "I'm on my way to work" shot (don't hate, I know I'm not the only lame-o out there who takes pics like this) of me trying out the corals (my personal favorite)

Below, Amanda and I after we got her dolled up for Winter Formal.

Later that same day MAC Artist Amy Lo and I were asked to do makeup for twins shooting a car commercial. That's cool.

I recently saw that MAC posted on their YouTube page the Spring/Summer 2010 Trend video that we also watched at Training (We call it Update).
The video is great.
Funny, informative, inside scoop stuff.
I remember watching a longer version of this video where someone had said the fashion right now is about a woman who is not "low maintenance, she's medium maintenance"

I'd recommend everyone check it out cause it helps makeup lovers/fashionistas/other interested persons to understand what we saw on the runway and how it's translated into "looks" for the season.

sidenote: this photos is silly cause I wouldn't wear that lip color with those eyes, but all that turquoise-y color is from ONE eyeliner pencil. I can't wait for these to come out!

WEDDING SEASON HERE WE COME!

Meet Erica Jones.
My sister.

Late last year my sister married Kyle.
It was one of the most joyful days of my life.
It goes without saying that I love my sister to the ends of the earth
and I'm so glad Kyle found her.

Now they're each other's for keeps.

Their story is beautiful. They met when they were in high school. They dated long distance driving back and forth between Arizona and California. Eventually, it got to be too much and as 17/18 year olds do, they broke up to experience life separately.
They remained friends and Erica even moved to Arizona for a year or so.
They did not date.

Erica moved home.

My Week with Mr. Droid

I got a new phone!!!
I haven't figured it all out yet but I'm pretty pumped on it nonetheless.
Here's a few pictures from my phone of the last few days.

I did a music video with A Rocket to the Moon...

Worked with a kickass assistant named Laura who is gonna give me some special effects lessons....

and held a prayer meeting with Kelly that we'd be wrapped prior to the clock striking 4 am ;)

THEN, I did a lookbook for EVER Clothing...with Sarah DeAnna.

Recognize her?

Sarah is amazing. Smart, sweet, and super easy to talk to.
She's coming out with a book called Model Skinny. Make sure to keep up with her cause she's definitely got a few things to share!

We had so much fun and I look forward to sharing Felipe's photos from the day.

Four Years Strong- "Wasted Time"

Did a music video with Four Years Strong recently.

Loved these dudes.

So many laughs, awkward facial expressions, random dance moves, and ridiculous sayings shared with these guys that I felt like I could drop them in my group of friends in long beach and it would feel like they'd been there all along.

The guys played on a clock that spun around in front of a green screen

(...for about twelve hours ;0 )

Fans came!

Let me tell you, the people who came to see FYS loved them so much.

Somebody even came out from Chicago.

I'm super excited to see what will be done with this video. I heard a few ideas that I don't want to spoil, but it sounds like it's gonna be amazing.

Desert Shoot- Photographer Duane Peck

Here's a few photos from a recent desert shoot with Duane Peck.
He and I did this shoot together as well.
We drove out to Joshua Tree and shot in the lake bed just as the sun was setting over the desert. It was gorgeous, but FREEZING!

How INSANE is that sunset?!!!

Duane and I have both been working in the wedding industry for years and have similar interests in building fashion portfolios.
I was told to get creative while drawing from "Guess" ads for inspiration. I did Makeup/Hair and provided wardrobe with help from my stylist friend, Giuliana.

Jodi is a photographer living in Las Vegas who found me via Gabriel Ryan Photography.

She asked if I could do makeup for her for two days of shooting. The first, for promotional pictures for her professional website. The second, to make her beautiful for her wedding photos. She and her husband hated they're photos from they're actual wedding day and decided to enlist the talented Gabriel to re-create those perfect bride and groom shots.

We put my necklace-turned-bracelet on the model for this shoot.

Here I am with the lovely bride Emily, aka Auntie Em.
Now when I say "aka" I really mean otherwise known as. You see, my parents are cowboys.
"Auntie Em" and "Coffee" are along with Mom ("Delaney Rose") and Pops ("Ivory Jack McCloud") are part of the Single Action Shooting Society.
I happen to think it's one of the most awesome things, ever.
Like, do your parents have a hobby as cool as this one?

A couple posts ago, I wrote about my parents finally tying the knot.

If there's one thing to say about these "cowboy" people, its that they sure know how to party.
